The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society was established in 1924 by Mrs. Fannie Thompson Kessler, an animal rights activist, to provide welfare services to both farm and domestic animals. We are still located on the original site - Mrs. Kessler's San Gabriel home. Our facility doubled in size when her neighbor donated her property to our shelter. While we are now primarily a shelter for domestic pets, we still provide for chickens, pigs, and other small farm animals!
