Is there a DM Cosequin. My vet wanted me to that one

Answer by whynotpugsSep 20, 2024
There’s a DS (Double Strength) Cosequin with MSM that’s now called Cosequin Maximum Strength. I’ve used it for many years. There is also a product called Glycoflex that has an ingredient called N,N-Dimethylglycine HCl that’s abbreviated to DMG. You may want to double check with your vet if it’s the particular ingredient, DMG, or a particular strength, DS, that he wants you to use. Hope this helps a bit. I have been researching products this morning comparing ingredients when I noticed your question.

the MG on this is higher than the brand that I have been using and doesnt have msm in it. would this make your dog go to the bathroom more.

Answer by GSDMom3Apr 04, 2025
I've been using this brand in all 3 of my German Shepherds and haven't seen any issues with diarrhea or more frequent potty trips. Consider starting with 1 tablet or 1/2 a tablet (depending on the size of your dog) for the first few days and gradually move up to the recommended dose. Of course always consult you vet if you have concerns.

How many milligrams is there in each tablet?

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2024
Each Chewable Tablet Contains 600 milligrams minimum of Glucosamine Hydrochloride, 300 milligrams minimum of Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate Minimum, 250 milligrams minimum of Methylsulfonylmethane, and 3 milligrams of Manganese Minimum.

Is this a pain relief also? If not can it be mixed with one

Answer by ChewyJun 01, 2019
This joint supplement is not a pain reliever. We'd recommend consulting with your veterinarian before combining any supplements for the safest option.

WARNING!!! KILLED MY DOG- MADE BOTH OF THEM SICK- NEGATIVE 5 STARS IF I COULD

We gave regular Cosequin for years but switched to this one with MSM once I found out about it. Big mistake. Severe lower GI tract blowout with both of our elderly dogs, taking over 3 hours to clean up on two floors of the house. The oldest one, 13 years old, lost so much weight and didn't recover- she died painfully before the vet's opened and watching her die in my arms has traumatized me for life. Almost 4 hours of watching the life drain out of her. Our 11 year old lost weight but is still here, but we don't know if he has any damage. This product should come with a warning label. I don't trust Nutramax and won't be using or recommending Cosequin to anyone ever again. I wish I'd never seen there was a newer version with MSM. I take MSM and it didn't do this to me! My heart is breaking. DO NOT RECOMMEND- AS STRONGLY AS I CAN, IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG WITH ALL YOUR HEART, DO NOT RISK A SEVERE NEGATIVE REACTION OR EVEN DEATH FROM USING THIS PRODUCT.

Moose is about 60lbs and was neutered way too young, 6 weeks old, and it had detrimental affects on his joints. He is only 7 and due to his extremely high energy, he was visibly stiff and not bringing his ball back as many times. After 3 weeks on this supplement, a family member even commented on how limber and playful he is again. This product was reccomended to me by the Chewy Cares team and I am so thankful!

Sid isnt finicky or picky, but these tablets went in her mouth and right back out, tried putting gravy on it, newp she wasn't having it. I even tasted the other half, can't say I blame her, I wouldn't eat it either. I dont get these companies that make things for animals and dont make the supplements or whatever taste good, makes no sense. And I'm sure not shoving 3 of those down here throat every day. And she knows when something is mixed in her food. So its being returned. Smh

My 10 year old border collie mix got very sick on these. I gave them 1 and 1/2 bottles due to joint pain. Luckily I'm very tuned into my dog and spend alot of time with him and I noticed he was behaving strangely. Very lethargic, couldn't stand for long, wasn't barking much and seemed to have a far off glazed over look in his eyes. Within 1 day of taking him off of these I saw improvement, within a week he started having all of his great energy back and no longer seems to have joint pain either. I still am looking for a replacement for joint pain. If you give this to your dog MONITOR THEM CLOSELY

My senior dog Birdie is 10 now and had trouble getting up and down, but after I put her on this Nutramax, she moves with a spring in her walk, and getting up and down is much easier. My shepherd is going on 6, so I decided to put her on it now so she doesn't feel the stiffness she would start to feel soon. My vet recommended this product, so it is trustworthy to them.

My German Shepherd has been taking these for about 2 months now. I really can't speak to it's effectiveness, because he has no health issues and I'm using them as a preventative. He loves them though! I place his tablets on top of his breakfast in the morning and sometimes he'll eat only the tablets and go back to bed

Started giving this to my 100 pound German shepherd, gave him to recommend starting dose mixed in his food. Resulted in him vomiting later, not able to eat or drink with out projectile vomiting. Has to get a anti nausea from the vet 24 hours later for him to start keeping water down and food slowly being given. Looked at the ingredients and saw all the filters added. Which makes it impossible to even know what ingredient caused it. Will never use this product again.

I have a 10 yr old Lab and a 10 yr old Cur. Cosequin has made a huge difference in their mobility and agility. Before Cosequin I'd notice some limping or slight discomfort when they wake up from a nap or in the morning. Since we started this the majority of those signs are gone. And when we are more active and they go on more walks than normal we up it to 2 tabs a day. Makes a big difference. One note...they would not eat them as a treat so we put them inside a pill pocket as a treat. That works for us! Good luck. I recommend this product.

I think she liked the taste and, it really seemed to work great. I had purchased a bottle at a local store prior to purchasing a much bigger quantity for close to the same price I paid for the smaller bottle at the store, from Chewy. Unfortunately, although she was suffering from arthritis, we discovered that our girl was really a sick dog. She had a number of conditions, unknown to us, that each alone could be extremely bad and she had about 5 or 6 possibly fatal conditions for an older dog and they all seemed to come to a head at the same time. We had to have her euthanized, she was alive and okay as far as anyone knew Saturday, got sick Sunday and by Monday, was so sick she couldn't even stand up. The Corsequin was in no way involved in her illnesses; it really did seem to help her arthritis, as she was better able to get around during the time she took it.
