In 1989, volunteers chose to convert a portion of a property to the non-profit caring of dogs and cats. This did not come easy, as they relied on substantial assistance from friends, relatives, and community-oriented people possessing various skills. Thus, this shelter was built. Despite numerous setbacks, the Missaukee Humane Society continues to operate without federal, state, county, or township funding. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
